Misrepresentation

E-mail Print PDF

If a policyholder intentionally makes a misrepresentation of fact it can invalidate his or her cover. It will depend on whether the statement was deliberate, and if it was relevant. For example, a policyholder may say that their house is within 100 metres of a small stream when, in fact, it is within 10 metres of a large river. This would be classed as misrepresentation.
